Dr. Desiree Bonnet Named Department Chair for Graduate Nursing

Dr. Desiree Bonnet, DNP, APRN, FNP-C was recently appointed as Department Chair for Graduate Nursing. She started her career in healthcare at the age of 16 as a CNA and went on to become an RN and Family Nurse Practitioner. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in Psychology and a second bachelor’s in nursing from South University. Dr. Bonnet obtained her MSN- FNP from the University of Tampa and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at the University of South Florida.

Dr. Bonnet has clinically practiced in juvenile corrections, pediatric pulmonology, pediatric primary care, and adult lung transplant. She has been in academics since 2012, taught at the BSN and MSN levels, and held many positions in academic leadership. Including most recently, the Regional Program Director for Graduate Nursing at South University and now the Graduate Nursing Department Chair.

She has lived in the Tampa Florida, area since 2007, loves the outdoors, and runs in triathlons in her spare time. She further enjoys spending time at the beach with her family.
