South University, Tampa students were recently highlighted in the Florida Occupational Therapy Association’s Newsletter.

The Associate of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant program students volunteered to design and planted a sensory garden for a local assisted living memory care facility. After researching the benefits and planning the sensory garden, the students spent a weekend transforming a bare courtyard at the facility. The students planted flowers, herbs and shrubbery and built fountains and decorated with wind chimes. The garden will be used as both a place for leisure and therapy for the facility’s residents.
