Turning Academic Resilience into Results: Year One QEP Impact Report

20

The South University QEP 2025 Year One Report provides an overview of early outcomes from the institution’s Quality Enhancement Plan focused on strengthening academic resilience among students. The report highlights measurable gains across key competencies, including self-awareness, purpose, mindfulness, self-care, and positive relationships. Notably, student increase rates in areas such as self-care (up 26%) and overall academic resilience (up 26%) demonstrate meaningful growth from baseline data.

Findings also indicate that students primarily seek support from academic support staff (43%) and faculty (29%), reinforcing the importance of institutional engagement in student success efforts. Internal resources (85%) remain the dominant source of resilience support for our students.

A key highlight of the report is the new implementations in the UVC1000 course, which integrates academic resilience strategies into the undergraduate student experience. This targeted intervention has contributed to a 20% increase in 90-day student persistence rates, representing a significant early success toward the institution’s long-term persistence goals. Overall, Year One results demonstrate promising progress in embedding resilience into the campus culture and improving student outcomes.

Congratulations to all QEP supporters for their impactful contributions during Year One. These efforts are clearly making a meaningful difference in student success and persistence.
