Pharmacy Students Win Award

We’re proud to share that our South University School of Pharmacy team, Haley Reyes and Kris Persaud, presented their poster in July, Evaluating Inpatient Analgesic Effectiveness for Acute Pain in MOUD-treated SUD Patients, at the Georgia Society of Addiction Medicine – GSAM conference where they received the People’s Choice Award! 🏆

This work highlights the importance of optimizing pain control in hospitalized patients with substance use disorder (SUD) who are maintained on medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). We’re thrilled that their findings will be shared with the Opioid Review Council at St. Joseph’s Health System, where they’ll help educate providers and inform strategies to improve patient outcomes.💊

A big thank you to Dr. Patrick Barry for serving as their preceptor—your guidance, mentorship, and support were instrumental throughout this project.🥼
