Nursing Program Majors Help Prepare High School Students for Career Choice

A group of South University nursing students recently volunteered to help highlight the nursing profession for high school students considering the career.

South University, Austin Bachelor of Science in Nursing students volunteered as part of the Healthcare Workforce Alliance of Central Texas Nursing Academy. More than 60 high school students from around the state took part in patient care simulations and heard lectures and panel discussions about careers in nursing. The South University students assisted in simulations that included assessing heart and lung sounds, caring for patients with trach tubes, and both adult and infant CPR.

The South University students assisted with the patient care simulations, and two served as panelists during a discussion about life as a nursing student.
