QEP Scholars Grants

South University (SU) has adopted Critical Thinking and Information Literacy as the focus of its QEP.  The QEP Scholars program is an essential component of the QEP that promotes a sustained focus and improvement of best practices within South University, including the Art Institute of Dallas.  This award provides the time and structure for faculty to promote scholarship, learning, and service to the university.

QEP Student Learning Outcomes

South University's Quality Enhancement Plan is focused on achieving four Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).

-Develop the intellectual tools that will enable students to ask good questions, reason out answers to those questions, and believe and act on the results of their reasoning

-Enhance learning by giving students the opportunity to practice critical writing and critical reading.

-Equip students with the skills to assess their own work by using elements of reasoning and intellectual standards of critical thinking.

-Access, and evaluate the quantity, quality and usefulness of information

 

Welcome to the South University Quality Enhancement Plan Web site.

In some settings, critical thinking is nothing more than a popular buzz word or a transient academic fad. We would argue that it should be the native language of the academy and the sustaining substance of education students should not simply be learning about a discipline or subject matter, they should be learning instead how to think critically in terms of that discipline or subject. Critical thinking is not something that can be added on to what is already occurring in the classroom.
