Columbia Professor Wins National Award PDF Print E-mail
COLMicrobiologySU Columbia (Spring 2010) - Dr. Ann Stewart-Akers of South University’s Columbia campus has recently been awarded the 2010 Faculty Enhancement Program Travel Award from the American Society for Microbiology Conference for Undergraduate Educators.

Now in its seventeenth year, ASMCUE hosts more than 300 microbiology and biology educators for an interactive four-day conference.  Educators come from colleges, universities and international institutions to learn and share the latest information in the biological sciences and education research.

In order to be eligible for the award, participants must be exceptional educators who are first-time attendees of ASMCUE and teach microbiology at two or four-year institutions with a large percentage of historically excluded and underrepresented students. All awardees receive a one-year Society membership and funding to attend ASMCUE, and will be formally recognized at a conference held in San Diego.
