| Nursing students brave the heat to help others |

SU West Palm Beach – Recently, nursing students took on the heat to help in the Back to School Bash at Gaines Park. Approximately 4,500 people attended the free event. South University Nursing Students volunteered their talent along side medical doctors, nurse practitioners, and nurses, who donated their time to assist families with free physicals and screening in preparation for the start of the new school year.
“We were unaware of the magnitude of need for the services provided until that day,” said nursing student Alison Gil. “We all climbed out of bed that Saturday morning with no concept of the day ahead. After breakfast was kindly donated to all workers, streams of hot people arrived who were in need of healthcare for their children.”
"All of the nursing students agreed that the day spent at the Back to School Bash validated the need for healthcare services in our communities," said Racquel V. Siegel, MSN, ARNP, faculty member. "As students, they all saw the huge potential to help the West Palm Beach community through assisting in wellness events." |
